A brush with... Alex Katz
Alex Katz talks to Ben Luke about his influences—from writers to musicians, film-makers and, of course, other artists—and the cultural experiences that have shaped his life and work. Katz, born in Brooklyn in 1927, is one of the most distinctive and influential painters of recent decades. Since he began making art in the 1940s, he has aimed to paint what he has called “the now”: to distil fleeting visual experiences into timeless art. It might be a spark of interaction between friends or family, the play of light across water, a field of grass or between the leaves of a tree, the movements of dancers, the electric illumination of an office building at night, or—more than anything else—stolen glances, everyday gestures and intimate exchanges with his wife Ada, who he has painted more than 1,000 times since they married in 1958.
The Art World: What If...?! with Alvaro Barrington
In this episode host Charlotte Burns is joined by artist Alvaro Barrington, who brings as much generosity of spirit to this conversation as he does to his art practice. Fundamentally curious, Alvaro wants to connect with as many people as possible and to make art that is as relevant to people today as Hip Hop was to him as a kid growing up in New York in the 1990s. But, as the art world has expanded, he says, it’s also become narrower in terms of who gets in. Alvaro is interested in changing that, creating less hierarchy and more connections. What if art could be as beloved as music by Beyonce or Taylor Swift? “Art has to be more in people’s lives,” he says, “It just has to figure that out.”.

Christian Boros, was ist die Kunst des Bösen?
Er ist einer der wichtigsten deutschen Kunstsammler, er ist Werber, Verleger und Experte für die Bösewichte in James Bond: Christian Boros ist zu Gast bei "Alles gesagt?", dem unendlichen Podcast. Mehr als sechs Stunden spricht er über die Fremdenfeindlichkeit im Deutschland seiner Jugend, über notwendige Regelbrüche, seine Karriere in der Werbung, über die Inszenierung von Politik – und warum er sich mittlerweile vorstellen kann, selbst in die Politik zu gehen.
In Berlin besitzt er einen heute international bekannten Bunker, der viel von deutscher Geschichte erzählen kann: von den nationalsozialistischen Bauherren über die Rote Armee der Sowjetunion, dann den Jahrzehnten in der DDR, als dort Südfrüchte gelagert wurden und das Gebäude Bananenbunker hieß. Nach dem Fall der Mauer zog die Technoszene ein. 2003 kaufte Boros den Bunker, 2008 wurde eröffnet, seitdem zeigen seine Frau und er dort ihre Sammlung mit mittlerweile 1.100 Kunstwerken.
